our History
According to the Carreglefn school log entry for Monday, 8th January 1900, the children and the Headteacher John Davies, marched from the Chapel Schoolroom to the new school. In 1995, as a result of the generosity of the local community the school building was extended to include the current Community Hall, a wonderful resource that has benefitted the village and surrounding areas for the past 30 years by being a hub for a vast range of different activities and events.
It was a sad day for the village when the school was closed in August 2024. However, with the help and support of the local authority, the Community Hall management committee, a sub-group of the Mechell Community Council, will now manage the site for the benefit of the community.
